Este año sucedió algo inédito en la historia del tenis brasileño, dado que Orlando Luz y Usue Maitane Arconada lograron el doblete en la tierra de Gustavo Kuerten, porque conquistaron el Banana Bowl y el Grado A de Brasil con sede en Porto Alegre.

En la gran final del Grado A Orlando Luz se impuso al estadounidense William Blumberg [6] por 6-3, 6-4, mientras que Arconada superó a Julieta Estable al son de 6-2, 6-4.
